We go in the countries where the need is greatest

Tearfund is working in close partnership with local churches and Christian organisations in more than 50 countries. As Tearfund Germany, we focus on projects in the Near and Middle East, as well as in countries in Africa.

The projects focus on health, education, WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene), food security, and peacebuilding. Our focus is on long-term development cooperation. Where necessary, we also become active in emergency and transitional aid.

How we work

Tearfund Germany works with local churches and/or partners because we see culture as a critical key to sustainability. Our goal is to enable individuals, families, and entire village communities to develop their God-given potential and overcome poverty. We achieve this goal by working with village communities on a long-term basis, implementing institutional development projects, providing emergency relief, and offering counseling and education to foster communities. We also keep an eye on unjust structures and empower those affected to raise their voices (advocacy).

In our work, we are guided by internal and external working guidelines. Our approach to monitoring impact helps us and our partners to check whether we are achieving the agreed goals and how our work can be continuously improved.
