Tearfund Germany is committed to promoting the safety and well-being of beneficiaries, volunteers and staff. In particular, the safety and dignity of children and adults who are vulnerable and / or at risk.
Staff and representatives must ensure that their behaviour promotes and protects children and vulnerable adults from:
- harm and abuse – including physical, sexual (including sexual harassment) and emotional violence (including abuse of power / trust and any form of coercion);
- physical and sexual exploitation,
- neglect,
- discrimination,
- human trafficking.
Tearfund Germany’s staff and representatives safeguard children and vulnerable adults by:
- upholding the dignity of children and vulnerable adults and treating them with respect,
- taking preventative measures to ensure a safe environment for children and vulnerable adults,
- responding quickly and appropriately to allegations that these standards are being breached.
All allegations of abuse of a child or vulnerable adult must be reported within 24 hours of becoming known. A report must be made when abusive behaviour is observed or suspected, when an allegation is made or disclosed, or when there are indicators (signs and symptoms) of suspected abuse.

Tearfund provides an anonymous and neutral 24/7 Safecall service that can be contacted by phone or email. Details can be found below. Please use the appropriate local Safecall telephone number if the alleged victim is in immediate danger.
All calls and emails to Safecall will be treated in confidence by an independent team. No names will be passed on to Tearfund Germany without express authorisation.
