What we believe at Tearfund

We are Christians, and our faith is the foundation of our commitment to help all people reach their full and god-given potential. Our projects aim to address the root causes of poverty so that local communities become resilient and thrive. Our projects are run by communities worldwide and no one is excluded based on their nationality, ethnic origin, gender or religion.

We believe poverty is not only about economic or material needs. Poverty affects all aspects of life: social, environmental and spiritual needs. Tearfund believes that broken systems and relationships are the fundamental causes of poverty, and that this brokenness is, in turn, the result of man’s rebellion against God.
