Whistleblowing

If someone becomes aware of serious misconduct, unacceptable behaviour, practices or wrongdoing by employees, partners and representatives of Tearfund Germany, Safecall provides the opportunity to report concerns internally without fear of reprisal and independently of immediate superiors.

Examples of misconduct covered by whistleblowing are:

  • criminal offences e.g. fraud, theft, bribery,
  • breach of a legal obligation, e.g. failure to have the correct insurance,
  • a miscarriage of justice,
  • risks to the health and safety of any individual,
  • avoidable damage to the environment.

The deliberate concealment of information to show any of the above five matters.

In the event of allegations, the neutral whistleblowing channel is available, where all comments are treated confidentially. Issues will be investigated and action taken in accordance with Tearfund Germany’s policies.

Tearfund’s whistleblowing service partner is Safecall, an independent external reporting line. All calls are handled in confidence by independent staff. Names will only be passed on to Tearfund with express permission.
